Rosary-Marmion Collaboration FAQs
Who initiated the discussions about a possible collaboration of Rosary and Marmion?
Marmion leadership approached the Dominican Sisters in the Spring of 2023 about a possible collaboration. On several occasions since then, including in the Summer of 2024, Marmion reiterated its interest in a collaboration with Rosary.
Why is Rosary participating in these discussions?
Rosary is always interested in expanding the opportunities offered to our students, staff, parents, alumni and other stakeholders. If Rosary can enhance our academic, extracurricular, financial and spiritual foundations, we will conduct our due diligence and pursue the appropriate opportunities.
Does Rosary have to collaborate with Marmion?
No. Rosary is debt free and maintains a balanced budget. We attract first-rate teachers, while still being cost-conscious when we fill positions and spend our money.
We attract top students who become our best recruiters. The 2024 Rosary graduates had an average ACT score of 26 with 25% of the class also named as Illinois State Scholars. These 60 students, all accepted into colleges, received more than $13.2 million in college scholarships and participated in 7,288 hours of community service.
In 2020, we opened a new $1 million STEAM wing of completely refurbished classrooms and laboratories, funded by donors who believe in Rosary’s future and specifically financed the STEAM campaign in less than 18 months.
We recently celebrated our 62nd anniversary and look forward to another 62 years!
Is there a threat that Rosary will close?
No. Rosary is not closing.
What are the issues involved in a possible collaboration of Rosary and Marmion?
Rosary and Marmion both have a tradition of single-sex education with proud histories, active alumni and dedicated supporters. Any collaboration must be done with due diligence, active discussions and a vigorous dialogue among the Rosary and Marmion stakeholders. Any collaboration requires agreement on major issues such as:
Governance and legal structure
Finance and budget
Physical location of the school
Academics and school day logistics
