Building a Life and Family Together

A Valentine Story -  Katherine (Wenzel '07) Soris and Brandon Soris (MA ’07)
Katherine (Wenzel '07) Soris and her husband Brandon Soris (MA ’07) don’t recall when they officially met. “We attended Holy Angels together, and we have just always been in each other’s lives,” Katie said. They moved on from HA to Rosary and Marmion. “We started talking regularly during Marmion basketball season our sophomore year.”  Katie was a cheerleader and Brandon played for Marmion.

A favorite memory – After Katie got her driver’s license sophomore year, she started driving a friend to school. Brandon also drove his friend to school. “Our commutes shared one road, and our favorite mornings were when we would end up behind Brandon and his friend on their way to Marmion.”

High School Valentines - French Club used to put on a candy valentine exchange between Marmion/Rosary, Katie said. “Before we were ‘official,’ I sent Brandon a chocolate valentine. He hadn’t sent me one so he bought a chocolate rose while I was at work that night and placed it on my car.”

Junior year, Brandon and Katie attended Marmion’s Military Ball together, the first of many dances to come.

Katie and Brandon were married at Holy Angels Catholic Church on July 20, 2013, with the reception at Eaglebrook Country Club. Many Rosary and Marmion graduates were in attendance and also in the bridal party---from the mother of the groom, Annette (McCluckie '78) Soris, and many of her friends to Brandon and Katie’s  own friends and siblings.

Today, Katie and Brandon have four children ranging in age from 3-10. “We live in Sugar Grove and our children attend Holy Angels School,” she said.

Katie spends her time driving to kids’ activities – sports, Cub Scouts, dance, and tumbling. Brandon coaches a lot of the boys’ sports.  “We enjoy vacationing to Green Lake, Wisconsin and Naples, Florida,” she said.

For Valentine’s Day 2025, the busy couple’s plans revolve around their family. Katie is a room parent for her daughter’s kindergarten class and planned a St. Valentine’s Day party. “In the evening, we will be attending our boys’ basketball game. Typical parents!" she said.

Happy Valentine’s Day to Katie, Brandon, and their family! Thank you for sharing your story with us!
